About Us

Tyson’s Chance Animal Foundation Inc. was founded by Ashley Shelburne in February 2011. Tyson’s specializes in the rescue of special needs animals. We are known for taking in dogs with severe issues, be it medical, behavioral, or just the ones that nobody wants. About 50% of our animals are considered “special needs.” We love Pit Bulls and senior dogs. We love to heal the sick and rehabilitate the misunderstood. We also adopt out puppies, kittens, and adults with no issues at all. Tyson’s rescues all breeds, sizes, ages, and temperaments.

He was a stunningly beautiful, massive dog with amazing golden eyes. He came to us because someone saw something good in him, sparing him from the grim fate of euthanasia. Despite his reputation this handsome boy inspired us all. Tyson was our first rehabilitated “death row” dog. We just knew that he was the standard for happy endings and adopted him as our mascot. At Tyson’s Chance Animal Foundation Inc. we strive for all animals to find the same happiness with which Tyson has been blessed.

“I am an animal rescuer. I have bought animal food with my last dime, I have patted a mangy head with a bare hand. I have hugged those that are vicious and afraid. I have fallen in love a thousand times, and I have cried into the fur of a lifeless body too many times to count. I am an animal rescuer. My work is never done, my home is never quiet, my wallet is always empty – but my heart is always full.”
